About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Software Engineering to join our team at Haystack. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the technical strategy and direction of our software engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and guidance to software engineering teams, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality software.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of software engineering managers, providing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to help them grow in their careers.
  • Strategic Planning: Work with the leadership team to develop and implement the technical strategy for Haystack, ensuring that it aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with other teams, including product, delivery, and technology, to ensure that software engineering is aligned with business needs.
  • Quality and Reliability: Ensure that software engineering teams are delivering high-quality software that meets the needs of our customers and colleagues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement, ensuring that software engineering teams are always looking for ways to improve their processes and deliver better results.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Have a deep understanding of software engineering principles, practices, and technologies, including cloud, DevOps, and agile methodologies.
  • Leadership Experience: Have experience leading and managing software engineering teams, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software.
  • Communication Skills: Be an excellent communicator, able to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Be able to work effectively with other teams, including product, delivery, and technology, to ensure that software engineering is aligned with business needs.
  • Business Acumen: Have a deep understanding of the business and its objectives, with the ability to make informed decisions that align with company goals.
