Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Cost Management Specialist to oversee a significant project involving the development of new holiday lodges and the renovation of existing facilities. This role will be primarily site-based, with standard working hours from Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Managing Surveyor, maintaining regular communication and attending monthly meetings.
- Oversee all commercial activities and responsibilities associated with the project.
- Implement and uphold cost control measures in accordance with established commercial management policies.
- Prepare and present regular project cash flow forecasts.
- Compile comprehensive reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis as required.
- Stay informed about innovative materials and construction techniques, along with relevant regulations and warranty requirements.
- Participate in design discussions to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Assist in the formulation of the initial project budget.
- Provide value engineering alternatives to enhance cost efficiency.
- Manage the preparation of subcontractor and supplier tender requests.
- Evaluate and recommend subcontractor and supplier bids for approval.
- Process subcontract orders in line with company policies.
- Oversee subcontractor valuations and payments, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
- Handle subcontract variations and instructions as per company guidelines.
- Collaborate with site teams and subcontractors to optimize productivity.
- Attend all relevant project and team meetings, presenting the commercial status as needed.
- Compile interim valuations and complete additional tasks as directed by senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of an Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the Hotel, Leisure, or Residential sectors is advantageous.
- RICS qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also taking initiative and working independently.
- Experience in engaging with various stakeholders and financial backers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
