Ecologist to Senior Ecologist

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our team in York. As a key member of our ecology team, you will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering high-quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and deliver ecological projects, including assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with our talented team of ecologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners.
- Manage and deliver ecological projects, meeting deadlines and working on medium to large-scale sites.
- Conduct ecological surveys, assessments, and prepare reports.
- Provide technical advice to clients on biodiversity net gain, DEFRA statutory biodiversity metric, and associated reports and plans.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
- At least a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- For the Senior Ecologist role, a proven track record in managing and delivering ecological projects and meeting deadlines.
- For the Ecologist role, at least 3 years of experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong focus on conducting surveys, assessments, and preparing reports.
- Sound knowledge of UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM).
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
