1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a Secondary School

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a local Secondary School in Gloucester. As a key member of the school's support staff, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support to a child with Special Educational Needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 care and support to a child with Special Educational Needs, including physical or mental impairment, learning difficulties, ADHD, and ASD.
- Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and school equipment to ensure a smooth and effective learning environment.
- Record and report the child's progress to the teacher, providing valuable insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Help the child stay focused and engaged during class hours, promoting a positive and productive learning experience.
- Collaborate with teachers to manage student behavior, creating a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Support the child in developing their core skills, such as reading, writing, and mathematics, through targeted interventions and activities.
- Provide emotional support and care to the child when they are unwell or upset, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Contribute to the creation of a healthy, engaging, and safe learning environment for all children.
- Understanding of Special Educational Needs, including physical or mental impairment, learning difficulties, ADHD, and ASD.
- Ability to guide and teach young people with SEN, using evidence-based strategies and techniques.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Inquisitive and curious, with a passion for learning and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Empathetic and understanding, with a strong sense of compassion and empathy towards children and their needs.

- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a strong sense of resilience and coping skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
- Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar.
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or similar.
- T Level in Education and Early Years or similar.
