Role Overview:

In the capacity of Lead Software Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of proficient software engineers, nurturing an environment that promotes creativity, teamwork, and high standards.

Your leadership will be pivotal in guiding projects from initial concept through to final execution, ensuring that Blackstar consistently produces top-tier products and software.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct management of the Software Engineering Team, ensuring productivity and quality of output.
  • Oversee the effective development of scalable software and firmware through a systematic, process-oriented methodology.
  • Strategically plan the Software Team's workload and provide regular updates on project milestones to relevant stakeholders.
  • Uphold best practices within the Software Team, ensuring adherence to technical documentation, essential research, and company quality management systems.
  • Lead and manage the Agile Sprint process for the Software Team.
  • Facilitate the delivery of product firmware and software, from initial design through to full-scale production, including testing and validation of designs.
  • Assist in project planning, scoping, and troubleshooting.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commercial software development environment.
  • Familiarity with audio software, JUCE-based applications, or embedded firmware is advantageous.
  • Strong grasp of software engineering principles.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Sprint planning.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in formal line management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Methodical and structured in approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships across all levels.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to excellence.
  • A background in music or a passion for music, while not mandatory, is considered a plus.
