General Maintenance Operative

Job Overview

As a key member of the Mitie team, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality maintenance service to our clients. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the upkeep of designated areas by carrying out general and specific duties as directed by the contract management team.

The site conducts regular health and safety checks, including random drug and alcohol testing, to ensure a safe working environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to designated buildings, including their fabric, fixtures, and fittings, as requested by the customer and/or Mitie contract management team.
  • Liaise with the Mitie contract management team on a daily basis to discuss the day-to-day running of the building and report any issues related to operation and appearance.
  • Conduct regular checks on plant and equipment to ensure optimal conditions are maintained.
  • Ensure entrance and exit points are clean and tidy, and assist in the removal of equipment and furniture from site as required.
  • Perform painting and decorating tasks as agreed and directed by management.
  • Assist the civil team with ad hoc maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate the status of work to both the customer and Mitie contract management team.
  • Maintain high standards of personal performance, hygiene, appearance, and attitude at all times.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a multi-skilled civil operative in a customer-facing environment would be advantageous.
  • Physical dexterity and manual handling skills are essential for this role.
  • Experience and skills in grounds works/maintenance and working at height would be beneficial.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Basic computer knowledge is expected.
  • Basic ground works knowledge is required.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work is essential.
  • A friendly and approachable manner, with excellent communication skills, is necessary.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Sets and maintains high standards of delivery.
  • CSCS certification is required.
  • IPAF certification is required.
  • NPORS certification is desirable.
