About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join our team at COLAS ROAD UK. As a key member of our Network Management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our highway network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and support to other compliance officers to ensure accurate and efficient permit coordination and management.
  • Analyze and process permit applications within agreed timescales and in line with national conditions.
  • Carry out compliance inspections for all promoters of works on the highway network, authorizing and setting permit conditions as necessary.
  • Monitor works within the permitting system, liaise with third parties, and provide performance reporting data.
  • Review permitting applications and conditions, issue permits, and ensure that all notices and permit applications for works are assessed and responded to within required timescales.
  • Assess the nature, location, timing, and duration of works and other activities affecting the highway network, identifying potential for interaction and conflict.
  • Decide on the appropriate use of statutory controls for minimizing disruption, in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA).
  • Liaise closely with the Network Management Team to ensure informed and effective coordination of all works.
  • Monitor day-to-day works promoter compliance and performance, identifying and resolving non-compliances and performance issues, and reporting on significant or ongoing issues to the Senior Permit Officer.
Requirements
  • Hold a New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) qualification and a CSCS certification.
  • Have experience and knowledge of the nature of the road network and highway engineering/street works coordination.
  • Be numerate and computer literate with MS Office experience, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Have experience of successfully working to targets and tight deadlines.
