Position Overview

COMMUNITY CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY - SPECIALTY DOCTOR

Location: Barking

Salary Range:

£55,825 - £90,000 per annum (Pro-Rata)

Working Hours:

Full-time: 10 Programmed Activities (DCC:SPA = 8:2)

Required Qualifications:

- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice

- Section 12 certification, or a commitment to pursue this qualification.

- Expertise in managing a diverse range of mental health disorders in children, including neurodevelopmental conditions.

- Minimum of 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent part-time experience), with at least 2 years in a relevant specialty training program or equivalent experience.

We are actively seeking a Community CAMHS Specialty Doctor to join our Barking and Dagenham CAMHS Community Team. This newly established position aims to provide high-quality care and is a permanent, full-time role. You will collaborate with three full-time CAMHS Consultants, another Specialty Doctor, and a Core Trainee doctor, influencing the future direction and treatment models within your area of expertise.

Job Responsibilities:

You will be expected to:

- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to provide care for children and young people with mental health needs across the region.

- Offer senior medical support to the team and provide direct input on clinical cases.

- Guide and supervise team members.

- Engage directly with children, young people, and their families, coordinating with external CAMHS providers and acute hospitals as necessary.

- Work alongside CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrists and share clinical supervision responsibilities.

- Foster established connections with local acute trusts, A&E departments, and inpatient wards.

- Manage and deliver care for assigned patients, ensuring comprehensive assessment and planning.

- Support peers and the team manager, demonstrating effective teamwork while also working independently.

- Supervise junior colleagues and liaise with other health and social professionals and agencies.
