This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time Consultant Rheumatologist to join our dedicated team at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. You will collaborate with three full-time Consultant Rheumatologists and one part-time Consultant, providing comprehensive rheumatological services to our diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will integrate into our existing consultant team and work alongside specialist nurses to deliver outpatient rheumatology care. Our department is committed to training, hosting an ST3 from the East Midlands Deanery, an IMT doctor, and medical students from a reputable medical school. We actively participate in regional training meetings to enhance professional development.

This position has been sanctioned for 10 PAs initially, with a timetable that includes 4-5 outpatient clinics weekly, support for the nurse-led helpline, and inpatient advice service coverage during working hours. You will also have admitting rights for rheumatology patients, managed collaboratively with ward-based medical teams.

Our facility is equipped with a full range of biologic and chemotherapeutic services, administered through our medical day unit by dedicated nursing staff. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in clinical trials through our established research and development unit, which is expanding its portfolio of rheumatology studies.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) in Rheumatology or Rheumatology and General Medicine, or within 6 months of completion.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • MD, PhD, or other higher degree.
  • Education/Medical Education Qualification (preferably at Master's level).

Skills and Experience:
  • Effective team player with strong leadership skills.
  • High-level organizational and communication skills.

Management Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and organizational change.
