System Safety Assurance Engineer

Matchtech is a leading recruitment agency providing expert staffing solutions to the engineering and technical industries. We are currently seeking a highly skilled System Safety Assurance Engineer to join our team in Toronto.

About the Role:
  • Lead safety assurance for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant international safety and technical standards.
  • Report on progress, manage staff competence and development, and maintain an internal audit schedule to ensure projects follow governance.
  • Coordinate safety studies throughout the life cycle of the process to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Manage safety assurance activities in projects, including hazard log management and review of RAM, V&V, and T&C activities.
  • Prepare technical reports for submission to management, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead safety engineering activities for rolling stock, signaling, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Facilitate HAZOP/HAZID workshops and manage risk assessments for specific discipline areas.
  • Undertake technical analyses and reviews of Engineering Safety Management documentation and project assurance deliverables.
  • Foster a safety culture and serve as a safety role model on the project.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent training.
  • Relevant safety designations are an asset.
  • High degree of technical proficiency in dealing with all safety-related aspects of large-scale and complex Railway projects.
  • Strong knowledge of modern Railway projects, including various components/systems involved.
  • Expertise in the application of safety standards such as EN50126, EN50129, IEC 61508, CSM-RA, and CMREA.
  • Knowledge of design and construction management aspects of Railway Projects.
