About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Reserving Actuary to join our Actuarial Reserving team at QBE Management Services (UK) Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing actuarial advice to our business units, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the technical quality of our work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actuarial Advice and Support: Provide actuarial advice to our business units, including forecasting technical provisions, reserve margins, and reserve uncertainties.
  • Business Partnering: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management and business leaders.
  • Reserving and Risk Management: Perform quarterly reserving advice, input into business planning, and reserve variability.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a small team, allocate responsibilities, and manage priorities.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for continuous improvement, drive efficiencies in process, and challenge the status quo.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure appropriate checks are performed within processes to minimize inaccuracies.
  • System Development: Use and assist with the development of appropriate systems and procedures to ensure accurate data and analyses.
  • Project Management: Plan and execute existing projects with multiple components.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve customer focus.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understand developments in the wider actuarial community and stay abreast of current developments.
About You

You will have experience working within the actuarial function in a multinational financial services business, ideally within General Insurance. You will understand industry best practice in actuarial analysis, modeling, and underwriting, as well as risk and compliance issues.

You will possess the following skills:

  • Stakeholder Management: Experience in discussions with wider business and stakeholder management skills.
  • Data Analysis: Experience in the use and interpretation of numerical data.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in Excel and other analytical tools, with the ability to develop sophisticated models to address business needs.
  • Process Improvement: Ability to question established processes and suggest improvements.
  • Agile Working: Experience working in an agile manner, responsive to stakeholder requirements.
  • Influencing and Collaboration: Influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Organizational skills.
