Function / Area: Actuarial and Risk Management

Reporting to: Assistant Vice President, Reserving and Capital

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be an Analyst within the Reserving function at CNA Hardy, a leading specialist commercial insurance provider. This role offers great exposure to a range of products and territories, providing opportunities for further career development. The individual will be responsible for contributing to the development of the reserving function, working closely with colleagues and management to ensure timely and efficient reserving processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the reserving function for CNA Hardy, ensuring all reserving processes operate efficiently.
  • Carry out quarterly reserving for assigned product lines, ensuring adequate and accurate reserving estimates are produced.
  • Support testing and validation processes to provide assurance on the adequacy and accuracy of CNA Hardy's reserves.
  • Contribute to effective reserving governance processes, ensuring timely and efficient reporting of reserve reviews.
  • Perform quarterly close process duties, working closely with Finance and US-based Actuarial colleagues.
  • Assist with the production of quarterly and annual Solvency II Technical Provisions.
  • Assist with the production of the Technical Provisions section of the Actuarial Function report.
  • Assist with the production of premium estimates on a monthly basis, as required.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Modelling team on Reserve Risk modelling.
  • Under the direction of management, liaise with auditors, external Actuarial consultants, and CNA peer reviewers as necessary.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Actuarial discipline, preferably with a Reserving background.
  • Good commercial acumen and experience working collaboratively across insurance disciplines.
  • Some Lloyd's or London Market experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical actuarial skills, with knowledge of various approaches and methodologies used across the industry.
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products.
  • Expert IT systems skills, comfortable using reserving software and office environments.

Education and Experience

  • Student Actuary with a recognised professional body preferred.
  • Educated to a minimum of degree level in a related field.
  • Ideal 2 years Actuarial experience.
