Job Description

Maxim Recruitment is seeking an experienced Temporary Works Designer to join their team in London. As a key member of the temporary work design team, you will be responsible for ensuring that TW designs are adequate and safely designed for construction, use and dismantling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a design brief with full consultation, ensuring all construction loads are considered.
  • Advise permanent works designers on temporary conditions or loads that should be considered in the permanent works design.
  • Independently check designs for concept, structural adequacy and compliance with the brief.
  • Ensure SHE hazards and risks have been avoided or reduced in the design and check of temporary works.
  • Provide safe, workable temporary works to the delivery team in a timely manner.
  • Prepare Design Risk Assessments and communicate with others in the construction process.
  • Conduct site visits to identify temporary works requirements and contribute to the control of risk.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience of temporary works design.
  • Understanding and application of BS5975:2019.
  • Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015.
  • CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course.
  • Completed SMSTS.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification, preferably BEng or higher (MEng, MSc), minimum of a HNC/HND.
  • Membership of relevant professional body (IEng MICE or IEng IStructE, preferred).
