Your Role:

As a Bank Nursery Chef, your primary responsibility will be to prepare and cook nutritious meals and desserts for the children, accommodating individual dietary needs. Additionally, you will cater to Fennies Fresh Café, our in-house lunch service for staff. You will adhere to the weekly menus set by the Head Chef and maintain food safety by taking daily samples for preservation. Leading the Kitchen Assistants, you will delegate tasks effectively and ensure the kitchen operates smoothly, maintaining high standards of efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crafting well-balanced and nutritious meals (including purees) in line with established menu plans for all children.
  • Training Kitchen Assistants in health & safety and hygiene practices.
  • Executing daily cleaning tasks, including mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Keeping accurate records and paperwork for food safety compliance.
  • Managing inventory of dry and frozen goods and communicating needs to the Head Chef.
  • Monitoring food waste and adjusting menus based on popularity.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of catering for children's dietary needs, adhering to current nutritional legislation.
  • Familiarity with the standards required for top ratings from local Environmental Health Departments.
  • Understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
  • A valid Level 2/3 Food Hygiene certificate is required.
  • Completion of Allergen Training is necessary.
