Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Assistant Respiratory Physiologist to join our Respiratory Physiology team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist with the delivery of lung function, sleep, bronchoscopy, and pleural intervention services, with or without direct supervision from a qualified Physiologist.
  • Perform a range of diagnostic tests, including quality assured spirometry, gas transfer, and lung volume measurement on both adults and children.
  • Loan and maintain nebuliser equipment to patients, ensuring its proper functioning and cleanliness.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and quality control of all laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Assist with the sleep service, including the posting out of equipment and ensuring its return, as well as downloading overnight oximetry and WatchPAT studies.
  • Provide care and support to patients and relatives before, during, and after bronchoscopy and pleural intervention procedures.
  • Dispatch specimens to pathology reception and assist in maintaining the cardiac arrest trolley.
  • Perform general duties, including answering telephone enquiries, making appointments, and replenishing supplies.
Requirements
  • 2 science A levels or equivalent.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience of performing quality assured spirometry, gas transfer, and lung volume measurements.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as an Assistant Respiratory Physiologist.
  • Experience of setting up and downloading overnight oximetry or WatchPAT studies.
