Job Title: Senior Assistant Respiratory Physiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Assistant Respiratory Physiologist to join our Respiratory Physiology team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of lung function, sleep, bronchoscopy, and pleural intervention services, working closely with our team of qualified physiologists.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Performing a range of diagnostic tests, including quality assured spirometry, gas transfer, and lung volume measurements.
  • Loaning and maintaining nebuliser equipment for patients.
  • Performing routine maintenance, calibration, and quality control of laboratory equipment.
  • Assisting with the sleep service, including equipment loaning and return.
  • Downloading overnight oximetry and WatchPAT studies.
  • Posting out equipment for patients requiring home ventilatory support.
  • Cleaning and preparing equipment for loaning to patients.
  • Taking equipment to the Medical Equipment Maintenance Department for servicing.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with bronchoscopy and pleural intervention services.
  • Care and support of patients and relatives before, during, and after procedures.
  • Dispatching specimens to pathology reception.
  • Assisting with end-of-list procedures to maintain a clean and tidy bronchoscopy suite.
  • Adhering to local infection control policies within the bronchoscopy suite.
  • Assisting with maintenance of the cardiac arrest trolley.
Requirements:
  • 2 science A levels or equivalent.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience of performing quality assured spirometry, gas transfer, and lung volume measurements.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as an Assistant Respiratory Physiologist.
  • Experience of setting up and downloading overnight oximetry or WatchPAT studies.
