Role Overview:
We are currently seeking a seasoned Health and Safety Consultant to join our team. This role presents a unique opportunity for a qualified safety expert to collaborate with various stakeholders, driving health and safety excellence throughout our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety System Implementation: Provide coaching and guidance to project teams on the effective application of the Health & Safety Management System.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure that all health and safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements are strictly followed in all project activities.
- Safety Plan Formulation: Collaborate with the Project Manager or H&S Manager to develop and review the Project Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan.
- Incident Oversight: Manage the documentation and resolution of project incidents within the reporting system as necessary.
- Site Evaluations: Conduct thorough site evaluations and engage in company health and safety audits as required.
- Sub-contractor Evaluation: Offer expertise in the assessment and selection of sub-contractors.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on health and safety performance metrics as directed by the H&S Manager.
- Reporting: Prepare comprehensive performance reports for the H&S Manager and Project Director.
- Training Delivery: Assist in the design and execution of training programs, ensuring that all relevant personnel receive necessary training, including orientation sessions.
- Professional Growth: Ensure adherence to the company's Competence Card policy, including CSCS compliance.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a NEBOSH diploma or NVQ level 5 or higher in Occupational Health & Safety, or be actively pursuing this qualification. Additionally, a NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent NVQ is required. A valid driving license is also necessary. Experience in health and safety within the construction industry is preferred, although candidates with backgrounds in other high-risk sectors will be considered. Prior experience in a highways construction context is advantageous.
