About the Deputy Manager Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Deputy Manager at MiChild Group's Heathside nursery. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the nursery manager and team in providing high-quality care and education to our children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Nursery Manager on a daily basis to provide support and guidance to the team.
  • Work as part of the Nursery Team to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.
  • Make decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery in the absence of the Manager.
  • Follow administrative procedures to ensure the nursery runs efficiently.
  • Be a positive role model to other staff members, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the nursery's policies and procedures.
  • Assist in staff training to ensure all staff members are equipped to provide high-quality care and education.
  • Manage staffing levels and deploy staff as needed to ensure the nursery is fully staffed at all times.
  • Attend management meetings to contribute to the development of the nursery.
  • Be flexible with shifts and working hours to ensure the nursery is fully staffed at all times.
  • Conduct fire checks, read meters, and perform risk assessments to ensure the nursery is a safe and healthy environment.
  • Ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements to a minimum good standard.
  • Monitor safeguarding issues and take appropriate action to ensure the welfare of our children.
  • Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and implement recommendations to ensure a minimum good grade is achieved.
Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years or a related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and experience of working with children and families.
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding procedures and practices.
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
  • Ability to manage and maintain administrative requirements.
  • Previous experience as a Room Supervisor or Deputy Manager in a nursery environment.
  • Enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity.
