About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Practitioner to join our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) at Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with schools, families, and children to provide early intervention and support to promote mental wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct MHST assessments and provide individualized support to children and young people.
  • Liaise with schools, GPs, local authorities, and other CAMHS teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Supervisor and MHST Managers to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Encourage child participation and student voice in service delivery.
  • Deliver time-limited interventions and treatments to promote mental health and wellbeing.
  • Signpost to cross-sector stakeholders and attend regular MHST meetings or CAMHS multidisciplinary meetings as required.
  • Formulate MHST care plans in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team activities and contribute to service development projects.
  • Undertake risk assessments and risk management within the remit of the School Practitioner role.
  • Safeguarding responsibilities and make referrals as appropriate to other providers.
Requirements
  • Education to graduate level or equivalent.
  • Child Wellbeing Practitioner or Educational Mental Health Practitioner qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in the field of children and young person wellbeing.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of communicating effectively with a wide range of client groups.
  • Awareness of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult requirements.
  • Ability to work flexibly and autonomously.
