Project Cost Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Cost Accountant to join our team at Hays PLC. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining and producing the Orderbook monthly, using it to forecast revenue by month and year, and reviewing the WIP & Accrued Revenue schedule to identify exceptions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining & Producing the Orderbook: Update the orderbook files with the 'Year-to-Date' values for revenue and cost of sales, and add new projects that have been entered onto Project Accounting since the previous period.
  • Revenue Forecast: Using the updated Orderbook, provide a revenue forecast for both capital works projects, taking into account the remaining value of budgeted revenue and the balance of the contract remaining, monthly.
  • Exception Reporting: Identify projects that appear to have gross margins below expectations or revenue that should have been raised, and investigate the cause of these exceptions.
  • Liaison with Operations: Work closely with the Operations team to investigate exceptions and recommend financial adjustments where necessary.
  • Assistance with Ledger Journals: Assist with the preparation of ledger journals, accruals, prepayments, and the production of Management Information.
