Job Opportunity at Otahuna Lodge

Otahuna Lodge is seeking a talented and experienced chef to join our team as a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional cuisine and providing outstanding service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Executive Chef in delivering high-quality cuisine and leading meal services.
  • Present each course to guests in a professional and personable manner, highlighting the ingredients and preparation.
  • Ensure food preparation and production meet the highest standards, with a focus on flavor, texture, and color.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchens and equipment, and report any required maintenance to the Executive Chef.
  • Generate return and referral business by exceeding guests' expectations.
  • Be proactive in all aspects of service, hosting, and customer interaction.
  • Commit to personal and professional growth and development, with opportunities for upskilling.
  • Attend and contribute to all meetings and training programs as required.
Requirements:
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with impeccable attention to detail.
  • A passion for creating exceptional and beautiful cuisine.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand wine is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience in Food and Beverage in a fine dining environment.
  • Experience in pastry/desserts is required.
  • A focus on providing guests with the highest possible standard of service in all aspects of their experience.
  • Coffee/barista experience is an asset, with training provided.
  • A desire to learn and teach, with opportunities to develop new skills.
  • Flexibility to perform a wide variety of tasks.
  • The desire to work in a highly focused, committed small team environment.
  • Availability to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays.
  • Self-motivation, initiative, and professional integrity.
