About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Support Assistant in a Secondary school in Stanley (DH9). The successful candidate will provide support to students aged 11-16 with SEMH/SEN needs, helping them to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support under the supervision of teaching staff to help pupils access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities, offering feedback to the teacher on pupil progress.
  • Support the teacher with behaviour management, keeping students on task and maintaining classroom discipline.
  • Provide tailored support for students with challenging behaviour, following individual support plans and risk assessments.
Requirements
  • Enhanced child and adult DBS registered with the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Patient, reliable, and confident in supporting children and young people.
  • Experience working with SEN or disabilities is essential.
  • Previous experience as a Care/Support Worker is desirable.
