About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Quality and Safety team at Public Health Wales. As an Assistant Quality and Safety Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the development of the National Quality and Safety agenda in Wales.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Quality and Safety Manager to manage national systems and processes for National Incident Reporting. This will involve leading on delivering against a range of objectives, including operational day-to-day oversight of the incident management system, identification of incidents requiring escalation, and development of reporting functionalities.

You will also be responsible for collating and analyzing relevant data to identify and escalate areas of risk, developing audits and other processes to ensure the system is operating efficiently, and providing advice and support to colleagues on areas within their remit.

You will be joining an experienced team who are highly focused on patient and staff safety and quality assurance. The team is values-led and has a strong ethos of innovation and collaboration with NHS organisations and other key national stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage national systems and processes for National Incident Reporting
  • Lead on delivering against a range of objectives, including operational day-to-day oversight of the incident management system
  • Collate and analyze relevant data to identify and escalate areas of risk
  • Develop audits and other processes to ensure the system is operating efficiently
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues on areas within their remit

Requirements

  • Experience of carrying out RCA investigations into complex incidents or complaints
  • Leading on resolution of complex contentious issues with senior managers and senior clinicians
  • Producing Board-level reports
  • Interacting with all levels of staff and the public and communicating with confidence at senior manager and directorate level
  • Presentation skills and ability to articulate effectively

  • Implementing change and leading others through change
  • Directly line managing teams and all relevant management duties
  • Liaison and partnership working with stakeholders
