About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Project Manager to lead our dynamic team in executing complex highway projects from inception to completion. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering impactful infrastructure improvements and ensuring that our diverse portfolio of works is completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure full mutual understanding of project delivery objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with contracts and resolve risks and issues in a timely manner.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with projects, escalating where appropriate.
  • Lead and oversee projects throughout their lifecycle, informing investment proposals for clients at each stage.
  • Manage programme income and cost profiles, overseeing and challenging project managers' input.
  • Client liaison on a project and portfolio level.
  • Chair and drive regular project reviews to ensure current and live project information.
  • Manage correspondence and queries through project management tools.
  • Project change control and reviewing processes and procedures.
  • Allocate projects to project managers based on knowledge, experience, ability, and capability.
  • Work closely with the construction team to ensure permits, certificates, and site reporting are managed correctly.
Requirements
  • Experience in the delivery of highways construction and maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
  • Project management skills, preferably supported by recognized PM qualification.
  • Preference of minimum HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or other construction-based discipline.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of other design areas.
  • Understanding of environmental requirements of schemes.
  • Experience of coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources.
  • Understanding of H&S requirements related to highway construction and maintenance works.
  • Knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation.
  • Competent in exercising the duties under CDM.
  • Applicable CSCS Card.
  • Team leadership and management experience in driving performance and productivity.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong customer focus with a service delivery mindset.
  • Commercial understanding and budgetary control experience.
  • Understanding of Lean principles.

Experience
  • Experience at a senior level in the delivery of highways construction and maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with demonstrable competence in relation to the majority of the responsibilities listed above.
  • Experience of managing projects through complete lifecycle.
