About the Role
ByteDance is a leading technology company that has made it easier and more fun for people to connect with, consume, and create content through its suite of products, including TikTok, Helo, and Resso. As a key player in the global payments industry, we are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our Global Payment business (PIPO) team.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on a range of commercial, consumer protection, KYC, risk assessment/compliance, and data privacy issues related to the payments businesses worldwide;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product, engineering, compliance, marketing, business development, and risk, on issues related to product development and commercialization of global payment projects and services;
- Work closely with colleagues across the global legal team to advise on general issues in connection with the launch of projects or programs in destination countries/regions;
- Help build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new features and products;
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in-house or at a top law firm, with 2+ years in the fintech or financial institutions sector;
- Familiarity with electronic financial services, including payments-related matters and money service business compliance requirements, anti-money laundering rules, know-your-customer requirements, and stored value systems;
- Independent, hard-working, well-organized, and able to prioritize and manage numerous projects simultaneously, with a strong ability to work under tight deadlines;
