Job Overview

The Aircraft Ground Operations Supervisor will oversee the safe execution of ground handling protocols for both military and civilian aircraft, including rotary and fixed-wing types. This role involves managing pre-flight and post-flight procedures, as well as supervising aircraft towing activities. The Supervisor will also provide support to aircrew during aircraft preparation and recovery phases. You will collaborate with a dedicated team and report directly to the Operations Manager.

This position is a Full-Time role, requiring 37 hours per week. The selected candidate should be ready to handle 'On-Call' duties and may need to work outside of standard hours, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assigning tasks and providing direct oversight and technical guidance to a team of Aircraft Handlers.
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and procedures related to aircraft ground handling.
  • Coordinating with Handlers to assist aircrew in aircraft preparation, including refueling and de/anti-icing processes.
  • Managing the control desk operations, maintaining communication with relevant internal and external parties.
  • Documenting aircraft movements and maintaining accurate section records.
  • Overseeing the management of tools, equipment, and vehicles in line with established protocols.
  • Performing Aircraft Handler duties as necessary and stepping in for the Operations Manager during absences.
  • Being available for out-of-hours work, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Executing towing operations for visiting aircraft when required.
  • Upholding stringent aviation engineering standards and ensuring adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Promoting awareness of Foreign Object Damage (FOD) and individual responsibilities.
  • Staying current with all required training and certifications.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Being available for 'On-Call' duties to support Air Ambulance, Search and Rescue Helicopter, and other aircraft commitments.

Candidate Profile

  • Preferred background in Aviation Engineering with experience in aircraft ground handling.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possession of a full UK Driving License and willingness to undergo training for MOD vehicle operations.
  • Successful completion of the RAF Colour Perception test at a minimum level of CP2.
  • Completion of aircraft towing training is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to completing all mandatory training as required by MOD and Civil Service.
