Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled and empathetic SEN/Autism Support Assistant to join our team. The selected individual will engage closely with students experiencing SEN and autism, delivering personalized assistance to enrich their educational journey and personal growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small group support to students with SEN and autism.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support the classroom educator in adapting lessons to cater to the needs of SEN/ASD students.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Track and document students' progress, providing constructive feedback to educators and guardians.
  • Help prepare educational materials and resources tailored to individual requirements.
  • Foster social and emotional growth through positive reinforcement and encouragement.
  • Engage in training and professional development to remain informed about best practices in SEN and autism support.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant with SEN and autism students, ideally in a secondary educational setting.
  • Relevant credentials in education, SEN, or autism support (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness certification).
  • Strong comprehension of SEN and autism, including effective support strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere passion for aiding students with SEN and autism.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
