Main Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Chemist and Environmental Lead to join our client's team in the Knowsley area.

Key Objectives
  • To test products, in-process liquors, and raw materials to ensure they meet the required quality standards in a timely manner, adhering to safety and security protocols.
  • To lead new product introduction projects, driving innovation and quality excellence.
  • To develop and implement environmental controls and improvements across the business, aiming for ISO accreditation.
Main Duties
  • Manage and analyze quality control data, making informed decisions to drive business improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and store data within our client's system.
  • Order and manage laboratory stocks as required.
  • Review and enter quality data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and analyze analytical results and first-pass yield data to drive quality improvement.
  • Develop and implement environmental strategies, building a robust environmental culture within the business.
  • Attend and chair relevant meetings to drive business improvement.
  • Prepare and calibrate chemical standards, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Conduct equipment checks and maintenance to ensure laboratory equipment is in good working order.
  • Complete analytical tests before product release, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Update quality results at communications meetings, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and results databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Store and maintain retained analytical samples, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Record and store data accurately, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a robust environmental system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Lead Auditor and Customer Services team in maintaining the ARF (Action Request Form) System and administering weekly SHEQ meetings.
  • Assist with improvement projects, driving business excellence and quality improvement.

Normal working hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work between 6:30 am and 9:00 pm as required by the business, with a minimum of 7.5 hours per day and a 30-minute unpaid break.
