This position will initially start on a temporary basis and is expected to become permanent for the right candidate.


GSL Education - Leicester is seeking a Behavioural Support Specialist to join our team in a vibrant and inclusive school catering for children and young people (ages 3-11) with various special educational needs, including SEMH, Attachment Disorder, Autism, ADHD, Aggression, and those from Looked After Children backgrounds.

Your role will involve supporting the class teacher and multi-agency teams to devise learning and care plans, and to encourage the child/young person to reach their full potential. You will be required to set clear boundaries and manage triggers of challenging behaviour while supporting the child academically, emotionally, and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher and multi-agency teams in devising learning and care plans for children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Manage triggers of challenging behaviour and set clear boundaries to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Support the child academically, emotionally, and socially to help them reach their full potential.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and multi-agency teams to develop and implement strategies to support children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Provide support and guidance to the class teacher and other staff members on managing challenging behaviour and supporting children and young people with special educational needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs, particularly those with SEMH, Attachment Disorder, Autism, ADHD, Aggression, and those from Looked After Children backgrounds.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour in a support role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and multi-agency teams to develop and implement strategies to support children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, young people, and staff members.
  • Ability to set clear boundaries and manage triggers of challenging behaviour to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working in an educational setting, particularly in a support role.
  • Training in Team Teach, Mappa, Nappi, or Pillars.
  • Clear Enhanced DBS registered to the update service.
