Founded in 2015, Atalaw Solicitors is a boutique legal practice based in Barnet, comprising a principal solicitor and a dedicated paralegal. Our team is known for its approachable, supportive, and diligent work environment. We specialize in various areas including Civil Litigation, Landlord and Tenant issues, Will Drafting, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Commercial Leasing.

Your Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to establish a new Private Client division while supporting our esteemed Civil Litigation team.

The ideal candidate will take charge of developing the Private Client Department and will be instrumental in providing guidance to clients on a variety of Private Client and Civil Litigation issues.

Key Duties

  1. Oversee Private Client matters such as Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Trusts
  2. Draft legal documents and deeds
  3. Prepare Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
  4. Offer counsel on inheritance tax strategies
  5. Administer estates, managing both taxable and non-taxable cases
  6. Handle a diverse caseload of Civil Litigation and Commercial Lease disputes, including contract breaches, debt recovery, lease assignments, property disrepair, evictions, and leasehold conflicts
  7. Accurately draft and review legal documents
  8. Represent clients in negotiations and court hearings as required
  9. Foster strong client relationships through exceptional service
  10. Stay updated on legislative and regulatory changes
  11. Achieve financial and billing objectives
  12. Perform own typing and administrative tasks
  13. Conduct legal research as necessary
  14. Ensure billing records are current
  15. Deliver a dedicated and professional service in accordance with the firm's client care standards
  16. Engage in relevant training as needed
  17. Uphold client confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Private Client and Civil Litigation Solicitor will possess:

  1. A valid qualification as a Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years' experience in Private Client and Civil Litigation
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage complex Private Client cases independently
  3. Membership in STEP or SFE is advantageous but not mandatory
  4. Capability to handle a varied caseload while meeting deadlines
  5. A proactive approach to case management
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  7. Excellent research and analytical abilities
  8. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  9. Ability to clearly articulate legal concepts to clients
  10. Familiarity with legal software (Clio) and the Microsoft Office suite
  11. Proficiency in marketing the firm and generating new business opportunities
