Job Summary:

Duncan Lewis Solicitors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solicitor to join our Litigation team. As a Professional Negligence Solicitor, you will be responsible for handling complex and high-value civil/commercial litigation matters, including professional negligence claims, bankruptcy and insolvency, building disputes, and contentious probate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Handle all aspects of litigation work, including taking instructions, preparing cases, and attending clients.
  • Deal with correspondence and manage a challenging case-load of clients' matters from inception to completion.
  • Prepare draft documents, including witness statements, and process evidence.
  • Attend conferences and court, and maintain accurate time costing procedures.
  • Implement recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly file reviews.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in dealing with professional negligence claims, CPR Rules, pre-action protocol, investigations, settlement discussions, and mediation.
  • Litigation experience in private practice.
  • Valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying.
  • Excellent client care skills, ability to deal with client matters sensitively, and resolve complicated practicalities.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to use own initiative and sound judgment.
  • Working knowledge of publically funded litigation work and ability to service privately funded cases.
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.
  • Excellent IT skills, proficient with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.
