Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Selwyn Hall School. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the classroom teacher and providing individualized support to pupils with SEMH.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated support to one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils, promoting their emotional and academic well-being.
- Support the classroom teacher during lessons, ensuring a smooth and effective learning environment.
- Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure their needs are met.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation, setting work and marking as required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
Requirements
- Hold a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting.
- Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
- Experience of behavior management and techniques.
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn.
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
