We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Section Engineer to join our team at Liberty's Stocksbridge facility.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the engineering function within your area, engaging with internal and external technical specialists to provide engineering input and support operations.
- Develop and implement planned maintenance and inspection schedules to meet statutory, safety, quality, and engineering requirements.
- Provide technical expertise to Production Management and Department Engineers, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
- Monitor and control expenditure on spares, materials, and labor to keep within agreed budgets.
- Identify and assist in the preparation of capital and revenue schemes to enhance engineering and production performance.
- Develop and submit Major Maintenance proposals and schedules, ensuring justification and implementation within agreed costs and timescales.
- Organize and manage the training and development of the multi-discipline engineering team and production personnel.
- Negotiate contracts and control specialist contractors for maintenance and services, ensuring competence and adherence to job requirements.
- Lead and coordinate investigations, identify root causes, and implement solutions to problems occurring within the area of responsibility.
- Monitor KPIs for the area, identify deviations, and implement corrective action.
- Manage and develop Engineers and Craft teams to satisfy current and long-term business objectives.
- Performance-oriented professional with leadership skills to motivate a diverse workforce.
- Ability to react swiftly and think ahead to develop and improve assets in your area.
- Experience in project management, strong analytical skills, and ability to work well with technicians as a mentor and collaborator.
- Engineering qualification (HNC or higher) and at least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or technical role.
- Plant engineering experience, ideally with an understanding of VIM, VAR, ESR Furnaces, Heat Treatment Furnaces, and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and reliability-based maintenance.
- Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
- Understanding of risk management, Health & Safety legislation, and their application in a steelworks environment.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach.
- Experience with a CMMS (INFOR current system).
