About the Role

The Housing Standards Team at Bath and North East Somerset Council is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct programmed inspections of residential dwellings, including Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and single household dwellings.
  • Investigate complaints about housing conditions and enforce follow-up actions according to our enforcement policy.
  • Provide affordable warmth information and advice to residents.

Requirements

  • A degree or MSc in Environmental Health or equivalent.
  • An understanding of housing law, particularly assessment and enforcement of the Housing Act 2004 in relation to the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and Houses in Multiple Occupation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High levels of commitment, flexibility, and enthusiasm.
