About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Ward Manager for our Paediatric Assessment Unit. As a key member of our multi-professional team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the development and provision of a high-quality nursing service and environment for babies, children, and young people.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide specialist nursing knowledge, expertise, and advice to facilitate evidence-based patient-centred care pathways and packages.
  2. Ensure efficient and effective management of resources to deliver a high-quality service.
  3. Work closely with Paediatricians, multi-disciplinary teams, and other clinical leaders to provide a high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused service.
  4. Support and manage service needs in the absence of ward managers within the paediatric service.
  5. Accountable for the development and performance management of all nursing staff in their workforce to enable safe patient care delivery and promote patient experience in the department.

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a degree in Nursing or equivalent experience, RSCN/RN child with current NMC registration, teaching/assessing/mentoring or equivalent qualification, and evidence of post-registration training. Leadership or management training, MSc in Advancing Nursing Practice, or Non-Medical Prescriber qualification are desirable.

Experience
  1. Significant experience at band 6 level.
  2. Significant nursing experience within an acute paediatric setting.
  3. Experience of audit, benchmarking, standard setting, and change processes.
  4. Able to lead, train, manage, and motivate a team of staff.
  5. Evidence of guideline/policy development.
