About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Information Governance team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Freedom of Information Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the central point of contact for Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations information requests.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to applicants making requests under the legislation.
  • Establish links with key information holders across the Trust to ensure the rapid identification, collation, and reporting of documentation/information.
  • Apply exemptions in accordance with the FOIA.
  • Ensure the information requests spreadsheet and tracking system is up to date.
  • Review the FOIA and Environmental Information Regulations guidance, policies, and procedures when required.
Person Specification

Qualifications and Education

  • General education to A-level or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Degree Qualification.
  • FOI Qualification.
  • IG Qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in handling FOI requests.
  • Experience of Microsoft Windows packages, including word processing, database, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of the NHS infrastructure and terminology.
  • Understanding of the NHS.
  • Able to liaise with specialists and experts in complex information areas.
  • Good knowledge of Information Governance.
