Job Summary

This role is part of the Visa Operations team and reports into the Director, Reconciliations. The Reconciliations team manages the reconciliation and resolution of breaks for over 300 physical bank accounts / 2000 internal virtual accounts on a daily basis to ensure control and accurate safeguarding of Client funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team to provide excellence in reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are reconciled daily, breaks understood, and actions taken to resolve.

  • Drive a client-focused mindset across the team and manage unapplied and overdue debits to mitigate negative impact.

  • Empower the team to consistently eliminate waste, create efficiency in processes, and motivate drive for constant improvement.

  • Develop and execute a reconciliation strategy for Visa, to align with business requirements, address regulatory safeguarding requirements, and implement change programs as required.

  • Work with Client and Network Partner-facing teams to ensure reconciliation can add value and support onboarding of new clients and routes, actively participating in cross-functional workshops and delivery projects.

  • Lead implementation of new reconciliation tool, working with Treasury/Technology/Product teams across the Visa estate, eliminating inefficiencies and allowing the team to focus on value-add.

  • Collaborate with Compliance, Payment Ops, and Treasury to ensure Visa is in line with safeguarding regulations, including development, ownership, and daily monitoring of the VPL internal reconciliation.

  • Take full responsibility and accountability for the security and reliability of the reconciliation operations, developing and consistently testing controls to ensure best-in-class. Drive a controls mindset across the team, focused on closing control gaps and mitigating operational and financial risks.

  • Lead a team, providing guidance, development plans, regular 1:1s, and succession planning across the team.

  • Develop excellent collaborative working relationships across all VPL teams.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accountancy, or Business Technical/Professional Qualifications.

  • Qualified/Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience leading a reconciliations team.

  • Experience in leading the implementation of a new reconciliation system.

  • Experience in driving change and process improvement.

  • Advanced level in Excel and MS Office suite.

  • Experience in defining and implementing controls.

  • An understanding of and experience in managing safeguarding regulations in payments.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • An eye for detail with particular emphasis on ensuring all records are accurately kept and reconciled.

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to tight deadlines in a highly pressured environment.

  • Ability to manage own workload and conflicting priorities, including stakeholder management.

  • Excellent collaborator and people leader.
