Position Title: Science Communications Officer

Role Overview:

  • Collaborate within the Grants, Engagement, and Communications (GECo) team
  • Develop and disseminate captivating content to share groundbreaking research findings with diverse audiences through multiple platforms
  • Oversee both internal and external scientific communications, including social media, news publications, and the organization's website
  • Assist in public engagement initiatives and outreach activities
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders, including senior researchers, post-doctoral fellows, and external collaborators

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and manage scientific communication materials across digital and live formats
  • Establish and sustain internal digital communication systems
  • Enhance visibility and understanding of MRC research endeavors
  • Provide project management assistance for both external and internal initiatives
  • Foster and maintain connections with key stakeholders and external communication teams

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BSc degree in a science-related discipline is essential; a postgraduate qualification in Science Communication is preferred
  • Proven experience in managing websites and social media, project management, and coordinating events
  • Competence in MS Office Suite, web editing, and design tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English
