Scientific Communications Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Communications Director to lead the development of our scientific communication platform. This role will be responsible for driving the development, implementation, and dissemination of a strategic global scientific communication plan aligned with our Therapeutic Areas.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive scientific communication strategy that aligns with our Therapeutic Areas and supports the launch of our assets.
- Lead a cross-functional publication team to develop and implement global publication plans.
- Collaborate with our Therapeutic Area team to develop a scientific communication platform, including scientific statements, lexicon, and scientific narrative.
- Utilize enterprise thinking to execute on strategy and tactics, with a focus on high-quality stakeholder engagement.
- Develop and track value and impact measuring of the scientific communication plan in partnership with our Therapeutic Areas, CE&E, and integrated insights team.
- Responsible for congress scientific communications, including data interpretation and development of internal global communications and education for our products.
- Establish strong working relationships and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, including medical experts and speakers.
- Lead medical scientific communication innovative pilots and initiatives with strategic impact in partnership with Scientific Communication Excellence.
- Manage all aspects of publication and medical education agencies in support of scientific communications.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company requirements for scientific communications, including GPP, CME, and NVS policies.
- Manage financial and contractual aspects of assigned projects, including vendor negotiations and budget development.
Must have:
- 7+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare-related field, ideally in publication planning and/or medical education activities.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare is preferred.
- Experience in developing communication strategies and key scientific platforms.
- Ability to provide strategic insight and functional guidance into scientific expert development activities, publication planning, and developing medical education that support launch assets.
- Experience in driving the development of scientific messaging and execution of publications is preferred.
- Must be able to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effectively on multifunctional teams in a constantly changing environment.
- Proven ability to communicate complex medical and scientific concepts to lay audiences, including patients and caregivers.
- Thorough understanding of internal/external ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strategic mindset including innovation and critical thinking with both performance and impact-oriented drive.
- Experience working in a matrix environment, across functions, therapeutic areas, regions, and countries.
