Design Manager Job Opportunity

VANRATH is seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join their civil engineering and building work specialist team. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing design and pre-construction projects for the Education and Healthcare sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage design and pre-construction projects for the Education and Healthcare sectors
  • Knowledgeable about JCT Design & Build contracts
  • Experience in using programming software such as Asta Powerproject and common data environment (CDE) software such as Viewpoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Strong grasp of the commercial aspects of off-site construction
  • Excellent skills in communication and organisation
  • Coordinate and integrate design tasks into project schedules
  • Assemble and manage design teams to ensure timely and precise project delivery
  • Obtain client design approval and manage design changes during construction
  • Partner with commercial and construction teams to mitigate project risks
  • Maintain the project risk register throughout the pre-construction phase
  • Lead design team meetings, internally and externally
  • Mentor the design team and foster a collaborative work environment
Requirements:
  • Degree in Technical Design, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
  • Proven 5+ years' experience in design and technical management within the construction sector (preferably off-site)
  • Strong knowledge of planning and building regulations in UK and Ireland
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools including BIM
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience in CAD, Revit, SolidWorks
