About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team as a Principal Design Engineer. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of engineers and technicians, managing deliverables, and working to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians in the design of underground structures and tunnelling temporary works.
  • Manage the team's deliverables, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Implement temporary works design principles and permanent works design standards, creating solutions in timber, steel, reinforced concrete, and proprietary structural systems.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and third-party checkers to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Engage with clients and project construction teams to provide design solutions and support.
  • Generate reports and communications for clients, including design approval processes and engineering development.
Requirements
  • Experience in designing underground structures and tunnelling temporary works.
  • MSC in Civil and Structural Engineering or Degree in Geotechnical and Mining.
  • Design consultancy experience, with a strong understanding of geotechnical principles.
  • Chartered status or working towards, with a natural leadership ability to foster the professional growth of junior engineers.
  • CDM Health and Safety knowledge and technical skills in structural design.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary of £60,000 - £70,000, depending on experience.
  • Death in Service (4X annual salary).
  • Pension (company 5% / 4% employee).
