About the Role

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Overhead Line Project Engineer to join our team at SSE PLC. As a key member of our Project Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing engineering support for major transmission projects across the full project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Engineering Support: Provide technical expertise and support for overhead line engineering projects, working closely with multidiscipline project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  2. Lead Project Engineering: Take on a lead project engineering role on selected projects, leading on engineering governance, coordination of all engineering disciplines, and managing engineering risks and opportunities.
  3. Engineering Representation: Act as the point of contact for overhead line engineering and represent engineering at key strategic, commercial, program, and site project meetings.
  4. Safety Management: Promote and manage safety within assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and practices, ensuring compliance with company, HSE, and industry regulations.
  5. Engineering Risk Management: Work closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to identify and mitigate engineering and quality risks.
  6. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and support to project teams, addressing technical queries, and reviewing technical reports.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in overhead line engineering, preferably with knowledge of overhead line design software such as PLS CADD.
  • Strong technical expertise in AC overhead line systems and transmission networks.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidiscipline project team.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing project requirements.
