Major Works Manager

Reed is seeking an experienced Major Works Manager to join our team in Property Services.
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Major Works Manager to manage and deliver projects in our major works programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for deputising for the Head of Property Services, defining long-term works programmes, preparing briefs, and managing consultants and direct employees.
Main Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Head of Property Services and manage projects with multi-disciplinary support.
- Define long-term works programmes using various data sources and prepare briefs for specialist firms.
- Manage consultants and direct employees to achieve optimal outcomes and ensure project options meet regulatory and financial objectives.
- Oversee feasibility, pre-construction, and delivery of projects, including budgetary responsibilities from inception to completion.
- Appoint external contractors and consultants, manage staff allocated to projects, and ensure effective resident consultation throughout projects.
- Liaise with stakeholders to achieve project aims, provide technical and cost information for S20 notices and billing, and drive sustainable improvements.
- Monitor cost and quality, providing various reports, and continuously improve project delivery processes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in analysing stock data, preparing specifications, overseeing tender processes, and project managing major works. They will also have knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations, procurement processes, and construction Health and Safety processes and legislation.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage, motivate, and influence staff and stakeholders.
- Writing complex reports and updates, providing statistics with commentary, and teamwork and flexibility.
