Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial, Estimating and Buying team at Fawkes & Reece (North). As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the Company.
Key Responsibilities:- Attend development meetings, contract pre-start, and subcontract package review meetings to ensure seamless project execution.
- Distribute design information packages and tender drawings, conducting preliminary checks on subcontractors to ensure compliance.
- Prepare construction cost analysis, including analysis of quotations resulting from the tender enquiry, to inform budget decisions.
- Arrange and adjudicate budget settlement meetings with the support of the wider Commercial team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Place subcontractor orders, including interviews and reference checks, to negotiate contract sums within budget.
- Check all costs posted to each contract, collate and reconcile costs resulting from subcontract works, variation orders, site instructions, material orders, and preliminary/running costs.
- Check and arrange subcontractor payments, agree final accounts, and analyze costs to inform future estimates.
- Previous experience managing budgets on multiple volume housing developments from inception through to completion.
- Thorough understanding of Surveying and Estimating, with a specific and in-depth knowledge of preparing realistic construction budgets.
- Good understanding of strategic objectives and targeting financial return, with the ability to understand and manipulate complex financial models.
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, with Microsoft Excel at a proficient level.
- Relevant qualification HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management.
