Job Title: Adult Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at North East London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care to adults with mental health needs in East Barking and Dagenham.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work alongside other healthcare professionals to provide senior medical support and guidance to the team. You will be responsible for working directly with adults and their families, liaising with other external adult mental health providers and acute hospitals, and participating in the on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team
  • Work directly with adults and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external adult mental health providers and acute hospitals
  • Participate in the on-call rota frequency is currently 1:50, with a 3% of basic salary, Category A on-call supplement
  • Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member whilst allowing them to work with their own initiative
  • Work alongside another Adult Consultant Psychiatrist and trainees
  • Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals, and agencies
Person Specification:
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • CCT or equivalent
  • Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it
  • Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it
  • Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST

We are currently recruiting to an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist position in the East Mental Health & Wellness Team, based at Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX.

The post holder will work alongside another Adult Consultant Psychiatrist (currently out to recruitment), a full-time Core Trainee, a full-time GPvTS, and 0.5wte Senior Trainee, in the East Mental Health Wellness Team, and provide care to the adult residents of the Electoral Wards named East Brook, Alibon, Becontree, and parts of Heath.
