Position Overview

We invite applications for the role of Nutritional Care Assistant within our esteemed organization. We seek dedicated and proactive individuals to become part of our supportive and dynamic team of Nutritionists and Nutritional Care Assistants. This position will primarily focus on providing care in trauma units, collaborating closely with nursing staff and Nutritionists to uphold exceptional standards of dietary support.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a variety of essential tasks, including:

  • Conducting nutritional risk assessments and assisting Nutritionists in delivering high-quality service.
  • Monitoring and evaluating patients' dietary intake, motivating them to maintain adequate nutrition, and providing bedside assistance for those requiring feeding support.
  • Promoting protected mealtimes and ensuring effective hydration practices.

Proficiency in the Welsh language is preferred for this position; however, candidates fluent in either Welsh or English are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English or equivalent qualifications.

Desirable

  • Qualification related to nutrition.
  • Basic food hygiene certification.

Experience in Teamwork

Essential

  • Experience working collaboratively within a team and engaging with diverse groups.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience within the NHS framework.

Skills

Essential

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to organize and compile data, along with basic calculation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in providing feeding assistance across various care settings.
  • Welsh language proficiency or willingness to learn.

Nutrition Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding the significance of nutrition in health and illness, including knowledge of therapeutic diets, food hygiene, and safety protocols.
