Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a specialized caseload of patients with intricate nutritional requirements, employing evidence-based and individualized approaches to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment strategies.
  • Effectively oversee all service resources.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner in developing and planning a dietetic service for adults with complex needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants should possess a degree or equivalent qualification in Nutritional Sciences, along with experience in a healthcare setting.

Role Duties:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' nutritional statuses and identify their dietary needs.
  • Develop core and specialized nutritional treatment plans.
  • Implement both group and individual nutritional interventions.
  • Utilize patient-centered motivational techniques.
  • Evaluate and adjust treatment interventions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Communication:

  • Engage with patients respectfully, considering their perspectives and cultural backgrounds.
  • Translate essential nutritional information into accessible concepts.
  • Collaborate effectively with the clinical team.

Catering Coordination:

  • Ensure that menus align with ethical, cultural, and health requirements.
  • Conduct audits of catering services.
  • Assist staff in delivering quality mealtime experiences.

Quality Assurance and Governance:

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing training.
  • Engage in activities to meet performance targets.
  • Take part in clinical audit programs.

Research and Development:

  • Encourage practice development, evaluation, and research initiatives.
  • Share research outcomes with colleagues.
  • Serve as a resource of expertise for the team.

Education and Training:

  • Lead specialized education and training sessions.
  • Support ongoing professional development.
  • Facilitate educational events.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Registered with HCPC.
  • Membership in the British Dietetic Association.
  • Ongoing participation in CPD training.

Desirable:

  • Post-Graduate qualifications (MSc).
  • Experience in supervising students.
  • Valid driving license.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience with the specified client group.
  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in relevant areas (e.g., Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Physical Health).
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload.

Desirable:

  • Evidence of additional relevant work experience.
  • Experience in supervising staff.
  • Collaboration with various mental health professionals.

All personnel working in CIW registered services will be required to register with Social Care Wales and must be willing to pursue necessary qualifications to meet registration standards.
