Senior Fire Safety Consultant - Role Overview:

We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Senior Fire Safety Consultant to join our dedicated Fire Safety team. This position plays a vital role in enhancing our second line of defence by engaging in the formulation and execution of fire safety strategies, offering expert advice, managing potential risks, conducting audits, ensuring compliance, and advocating for best practices.

The Fire Safety team consists of a group of professionals. Reporting to one of the two Senior Fire Safety Consultants, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support on fire safety matters to both frontline personnel and management across various levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promoting outstanding fire safety practices throughout all of L&Q's operational sites.
  • Regularly assessing and ensuring adherence to fire safety laws and standards.
  • Creating and delivering fire safety training programs while evaluating operational teams on their fire safety responsibilities.
  • Being approachable, an effective communicator, a collaborative team member, and possessing a strong desire to enhance our fire safety protocols are essential qualities.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least a NEBOSH Fire Certificate (or equivalent) and affiliation with a recognized fire safety organization.
  • Previous experience in a Fire Safety Consultant role within a multi-site setting (essential), preferably in the Housing Sector (desirable).
  • Comprehensive understanding of building regulations and British Standards related to fire safety.
  • Proficient in IT – familiar with Microsoft applications and capable of utilizing these tools to convey safety information through reports, statistics, and training.

Your mindset and attitude are just as important as your educational background. You will be a proactive team player willing to adopt a hands-on approach to foster a 'safety culture' within our organization. A commitment to personal development is also essential.

If you possess the necessary experience and are interested in this role, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Please note that travel to various offices or residential properties may be required based on business needs. Therefore, having the ability to legally drive in the UK and access to a vehicle on a pre-arranged basis is preferred.

We provide a competitive salary and benefits package that includes:

  • 28 days of annual leave increasing to 31 days plus bank holidays.
  • Flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
  • Comprehensive pension scheme and non-contributory life insurance.
  • Investment in your professional development with ongoing support and training (both in-house and external courses).
  • Employee assistance program.
  • Health & Wellbeing initiatives.
  • Employee discount programs.
  • Up to 21 volunteer hours annually.
  • Strong family-friendly policies.

Our Commitment:

At L&Q, our people are central to our operations, and our success relies on hiring the best talent and maximizing their potential. This is why we are dedicated to the development of our workforce. By investing in a well-trained and motivated team, we can continue to thrive and achieve business success.

We are committed to supporting your work-life balance and acknowledge the evolving demands of life. Please inform us during the recruitment process if you are interested in part-time or job-sharing options. Additionally, if your circumstances change after joining L&Q, you can request flexible working arrangements, and we will strive to accommodate your needs.

We are recognized for our dedication to inclusion. We are a Stonewall Diversity Champion, a Disability Confident (Committed) employer, and have signed the Time to Change Employer Pledge to affirm our commitment to ending mental health discrimination in the workplace.

We expect all employees to uphold our environmental policy and social responsibility initiatives. We are an employer dedicated to environmental and social responsibility.

L&Q is a regulated charitable housing association and one of the UK's leading independent social enterprises. The L&Q Group provides housing for approximately 250,000 individuals in over 97,000 homes, primarily located in London and the South East.

As a charitable organization, our mission extends beyond merely providing homes and housing services. We aim to be a long-term partner in the communities we serve, fostering aspiration, opportunity, and confidence through our £250 million L&Q Foundation and skills academy.

In response to the housing and affordability crisis, we are committed to constructing 100,000 new homes over the next decade. Of these, 60,000 homes will be built or financed by L&Q, while an additional 40,000 will be developed through partnerships. Importantly, at least 50% of these new homes will be genuinely affordable, with a target of 60% in London.

Our vision is that everyone deserves a quality home they can afford, and we blend our social mission with commercial objectives to create homes and neighborhoods that everyone can take pride in.
