Primary Care Physician Opportunity at Cockfosters Medical Centre

Cockfosters Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking General Practitioner to join our dedicated and friendly team. As a GP, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working closely with our existing team to help us meet our growing list size.
Main Responsibilities- Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and referral where appropriate.
- Conduct patient consultations face-to-face, via telephone, or online.
- Prescribe medications as necessary.
- Participate in shared on-call duties as per a rota.
- Perform home visits when clinically indicated.
- Assist the practice in completing Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and other local enhanced service targets.
- Compile medical reports as required.
Cockfosters Medical Centre provides services to a patient population of around 7,000 in a affluent suburban area. We have an excellent complement of administrative and nursing staff, including a practice nurse, physician associate, and clinical pharmacists. We are a high-achieving surgery in all clinical and quality areas.

- In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with paperwork, insurance forms, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes, coding accurately for QOF, ECF, and IIF targets.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- The post-holder will be given dedicated QOF, ECF, and IIF domains and dedicated management time in which this work should be carried out. Progress against these targets will be monitored and discussed with the GP partners.
