Job Description

Job Title: Breastfeeding Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breastfeeding Support Specialist to join our team at Hatched Recruitment Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert breastfeeding support to new mothers and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Expert Breastfeeding Support: Offer guidance and support to new mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, how to establish a good breastfeeding routine, and the support available after birth.
  2. Deliver Interventions: Develop and deliver individual and group interventions with expectant mothers, mothers, partners, and babies in various settings, including homes, community centers, and hospitals.
  3. Manage Booking System: Oversee the booking system to promote the service and ensure timely identification, signposting, and referrals to specialist services.
  4. Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with healthcare professionals, including midwives, GPs, and pediatricians, to provide breastfeeding support and referrals.
  5. Communicate Effectively: Utilize various strategies to communicate effectively with women from diverse backgrounds and cater to their specific needs.
  6. Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure the highest standards of confidentiality are maintained, including information and reporting on work undertaken.
  7. Provide Support for Bottle-Feeding Families: Offer information and support to families who choose to bottle-feed their baby and provide guidance on introducing solid foods.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Recognized qualification in Breastfeeding Support, e.g., Breastfeeding Network Supporter, NCT Counsellor, NHS training in Breastfeeding.
  • Experience: Substantial working or volunteering experience supporting parents with feeding their babies in a hospital, home, or community center setting.
  • Skills: ECDL/Good ICT skills and willingness to undertake training in Infant Massage Instructor and Helpers/Supporters Course Train the Trainer course.
